The Broward Cultural Council Public Art & Design Program is seeking a professional artist(s) to participate in the Artist(s) in Residence Project at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
The artist(s) shall document/narrate/depict the development and construction of the south runway and Terminal 4 expansion, and the transformation of the airport and surrounding areas through photography, painting, sculpture, installation, writing, video, or any other artistic form or combination of genres. The south runway is expected to be completed by September, 2014.
Throughout the residency, artist(s) shall conduct outreach activities to interact with the public at the airport and openly communicate the development of the artwork. These activities may include exhibitions, demonstrations, or lectures. A temporary space in one of the terminals may be available to the artist(s) as a hub for the project.
At the end of the residency, the artist(s) shall have completed an artwork representing their residency, which will be installed at the airport and added to the airport’s permanent public art collection.
The overall project budget for up to two residencies and artwork display systems is $75,000. Funding for each residency is based on proposals.
